FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT
New Self-Titled Album Out Now!
Pittsburgh's own FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT has just released their new self-titled album on the Innervenus record label. The album is
available for purchase now on Amazon, iTunes and other digital download retailers. I've been listening to the album for a week now and I have no plans to eject it from my CD player any time soon. It's an exceptional effort by the group, featuring Abby Krizner's raspy, melodic vocals on top of aggressive, riff-heavy hard rock. I'm hooked and I owe a debt of gratitude to Eric Corbin of Screaming Crow LLC for bringing it to my attention. The new album was recorded by drummer, Chris Ruane, mixed by John Dzziuban (Sistered) and mastered by Zach Moore (Hero Destroyed).

FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT's sound has been compared to bands such as Queens Of The Stone Age, Priestess and Corrosion Of Conformity. As far as labels go, slude-rock or sludge-metal comes to mind, but I don't need to label it to know that I like it. It's an awesome blend of molten alt-rock with metal attitude. A few of my favorite tracks include the upbeat "Make Progress, Walk Away", the syncopated grind of "Dr. Ugula" and especially "Blue Jesus" with it's stoner-metal verses and crushing chorus.
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT serves up a hard-hitting, aggressive, guitar-heavy sound that combines all of the right components of good rock (hard, progressive) with all the proper elements of good metal (thrash, doom) and blends them together to create a high-energy, combative, antagonistic, wall-of-sound that's, well... the perfect background track to a fist fight in a parking lot. The group has a style that's both new and familiar, a sound that conjures up images of overflowing ashtrays, the smell of stale beer and the heat of sweating bodies. ...I'm right at home.
FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT Tracklist includes:
- S&M
- Make Progress, Walk Away
- Side Steppin' Ninja
- The Lone Gunman
- Eternal Embrace
- Three Legged Duck
- Dr. Ugula
- Sloth
- Blue Jesus
As much as the entire band demonstrates a kick-ass level of musicianship all the way around, much
of the raw, powerful, vivaciousness of FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT can be directly attributed to lead singer, Abby Krizner. Abby's vocals are phenomenal and she contributes a rampant and unrestrained intensity to each track that makes every song feel real and relevant. Add to the fact that Abby also dominates the stage and plays a mean guitar and, well... at the risk of sounding like a male-chauvinist pig, she's just as easy on the eyes as she is on the ears.

FIST FIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT is the type of band that you can take your girlfriend to see and not have her tearing at your hoodie to leave after the first song. Comprised of Jason Sichi, Johnnie McCallough and Chris Ruane (MojoFilter, Venus In Furs) along with Abby Krizner (Motorpsychos), this band's hard-hitting sound is certain to catch in your ear like a fire to kindling. Their gritty, raw and moving sound has built an energetic, passionate following of fans from all around Pittsburgh and into Ohio where they have actively played during the past year. The stage commands attention when they perform and you'll find yourself enticed to keep listening.
